From Raquel

Friends,

My name is Raquel Terán, and I am running for Arizona’s Congressional District 3. For more than two decades, I have fought for democracy by building a civic and political movement to lift up the voices of everyone in our community.

I was born in Douglas, Arizona and raised in Agua Prieta, Sonora, Mexico on the actual street that divides the United States from Mexico. While there were challenges, my friends, family, and neighbors were dynamic, hardworking, and loving. My family taught me to put my values into action. Because of that, I have dedicated my career to fighting for justice and equality, and I will continue that fight in Congress.

In 2011, I helped bring together Democrats, Republicans, Independents, Latinos, union members, educators, and youth activists to do something that had never been achieved before: Ousting a sitting legislator- Senator Russell Pearce – author of the notorious SB 1070 “show me your papers law”. We were told “no se puede”, but we did. The same coalition came together to reject Joe Arpaio in 2016. Again, we were told “no se puede”, but yet again we did. The coalition of everyday Arizonans that we built was powerful.

In 2018, I traded my megaphone for a microphone when I was elected to the Arizona Legislature. As a state legislator, I have worked to expand access to healthcare, protect our access to safe, legal abortions, and promote economic opportunity for all. But there is still so much work to be done, and that's why I am asking for your support.

Let’s now take our organizing to Congress. Together, we can create a government that truly works for the people. We can ensure that everyone has access to quality healthcare, protect our planet for future generations, and build an economy that works for everyone.

I am asking for your vote because I believe that we can create a brighter future for our children and grandchildren. With your support, we can build a better, more just world.

A ganar,

Raquel Terán
